Camden Snow Bowl middle school race team excels in state meet

CAMDEN — The Camden Snow Bowl middle school race team won big at the 2022 Maine Junior Ski League state championship meet. 

The first day of the meet was held at Lost Valley where CSB racers participated in both the Slalom and 3K Freestyle Nordic race. Day two of the meet was held at Titcomb. Racers participated in a Giant Slalom and a 3K Classic Nordic race.

Eighth grade team members showed up strong in the top ten. Oliver Lee finished ninth and Bennett Cohen finished 10th in the Slalom.

Olive Walker, meanwhile, finished ninth and Sam Tooley 10th in the Giant Slalom.

The CSB middle school race team dominated the Skimeister competition, a competition that challenges racers to excel in both Alpine and Nordic competitions.

CSB girls took home seven of the top 10 with Oliver Walker placing second, Katie Grace Kimball third, Linnea Turesson fifth, Amelia Mills sixth, Oliver Conover seventh, Amelia Lincoln ninth and Estelle Chase 10th.

CSB boys took home five of the top 10 with Oliver Lee and Bennett Cohen tied for third, Tate Hearst finishing seventh, Ian Beal eighth and Sam Tooley ninth.

The team podiumed in the team results as well: The girls took home third in the Alpine and third in the Alpine and Nordic Combined. The boys took home third in Alpine and Nordic Combined.
