Walter N. Davis Jr., 79, passed away after a battle with cancer on July 4, 2024 at the Sussman House.

Walter was born on February 12, 1945 in Rockland to Walter N. Davis and Mildred M. Kennedy. He was a graduate of Rockland Highschool. After high school Walter joined the Army in 1963 and was in the Vietnam war.

In 1967, he married his late wife, Joanne Leonard, in Warren. He spent 25 years working at National Sea products, 2 years as a taxi driver for Schooner Bay Taxi, and then 25 years as a truck driver until her retired. In August of 2019 he married Susan F. Proctor.

Walter’s favorite past time was riding his motorcycle.

Walter was predeceased by his parents; a son, Walter, III in 1968; a grandson, Shane Hooper in 1988; sister Beverly Williams in 2001; late wife Joanne in 2017.

Walter is survived by his wife, Susan F. Davis; his children, Barbie Davis-Rose and her husband Bill Rose of Warren, Joe Davis and his companion Jessie Marie of Whitefield, Scott Davis and his wife Stephanie of Nobleboro; his grandchildren, Amanda, Keagan, Kade, Brandon, Baylee, Joe, II, Jacob, Natalie, Jaxson, Jasmine, Madison; great-grandchildren, Saydee, Zoey, Marleigh, and Benjamin; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and a large extended family.

A committal service will be held on Friday, July 19, 2024, at 11 a.m., at Leonard Cemetery, Patterson Mill Road in Warren.
