Letter to the editor: Support Mike Thibodeau for Maine Senate

Mon, 10/31/2016 - 10:15am

It is an honor to have Mike Thibodeau working on our behalf in the State Senate, for all of us here in Waldo County.  Mike is a native Mainer and small business owner who wants to continue to grow and expand our Maine economy. This is so important for our young people so they can attend good schools, obtain a quality education and have opportunities here in Maine to work and live after graduation.

Mike has fought hard to increase funding for schools yet keeping property taxes down. He was successful in promoting legislation to have Maine’s tax code conform to the federal standard, making tax cuts permanent and easing the estate burden when the ownership of a farm passes to the next generation. I can tell you from experience, this is legislation that Farm Families Needed!

Mike also cares for those in need not only in Waldo County, but our entire State. He sponsored a bill that lawmakers approved, allocating $3 million from the Fund For A Healthy Maine to be directed toward purchasing of Maine-harvested fruit, vegetables and seafood; then to be distributed to Mainers faced with food insecurity.

This common sense approach supports Maine farmers and fishermen, while at the same time provides struggling Maine families with fresh, healthy local food.
Encouraging your people to live and work in Maine has always been a top priority for Senator Thibodeau as a legislator.

The Maine Ocean School in Searsport is expected to begin offering class as early as fall 2017! The magnet school will have a concentration in marine science technology, transportation and engineering. The maritime training offered at the school will provide young people with critical skills for the future of Maine’s economy. This is the forward thinking, responsible legislator that I want representing me in Augusta! I will be voting for Senator Thibodeau and hope you join me, as well!
