Letter to the editor: Ellie Goldberg will effectively navigate Augusta

Mon, 10/24/2016 - 2:45pm

I'm writing to urge my neighbors in State House District 95 (Warren, Appleton, Hope, and part of Union) to vote to send Ellie Goldberg to represent us in Augusta. Ellie is smart and fun and she cares about people like you and me. She knows how to listen, and she knows how to learn. This is our opportunity to be represented in state government by an experienced and effective community advocate, someone who makes it her business to thoroughly understand the local implications of public policy.

I have known Ellie for years in her role as president and chief advocate for the Maine Children's Alliance. With children and families as her constituency she was able over the years to push for changes to public policy that led to impressive gains in the care and treatment of our Maine children.

In my experience few people can navigate the competing interests in Augusta with such effectiveness. Ellie does not let party ideology get in the way of working collaboratively to get the job done.

Let's vote on Nov. 8 to send Ellie Goldberg to Augusta to work for us!
