OWLS HEAD — Judith Q. Schofield, 85, wife of the late William ‘Bill’ Schofield, died peacefully Monday, July 8, 2024, at the Sussman House in Rockport.

Born in Vinalhaven, April 24, 1939, she was the daughter of Stanley J. and Dorothy E. Perry Quinn.

After graduating high school, she attended Rockland Commercial College. On April 11, 1958, Judy married the love of her life, Charles William Schofield at North Haven.

In 1963, in support of her husband’s employment with Sherwin-Williams Paint Company, they moved to Montpelier, Vermont, and later returned to Rockland. While living in Vermont, Judy worked as a secretary at an insurance company. In 1972, Judy and Bill opened Schofield’s Carpet & Color Center at a converted two-bay gas station on Park Street in Rockland. Together, they guided that business through several additions and expansions until selling that business in 1995.

They later began Bill’s Unfinished Furniture on Tilson Avenue in Rockland. Judy’s ultimate passion in life was her family. She was inseparable from her husband Bill, and she has constantly mourned his loss since 2003. She was particularly proud of her daughter and grandson and fostered close relationships with her sister, brother and their families.

Other than her husband of 45 years, Bill, Judy was predeceased by her brother-in-law Elliott C. Brown and sister-in-law Deborah Quinn.

She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Weeks and her husband Donald of Auburn; her siblings, Jane Brown of North Haven, S. Jeff Quinn of Searsmont; her grandson Eric Charles Weeks of Scarborough; as well as several beloved nieces and nephews.

Friends and relatives are invited to visit Monday, July 15, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland, where a funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 16, at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Maine Chapter, P.O. Box 8730, Portland, ME or Sussman House, 40 Anchor Drive, Rockport, ME 04856.
