CAMDEN — Page Gallery will present Far as the Eye Can See, an exhibition of paintings from Ken DeWaard, Jessica Lee Ives, and Nathaniel Meyer.

The show highlights three artists whose paintings describe the beauty of the natural world and connection to the landscape. The exhibition will open with a public reception during the Camden Art Walk on Thursday, July 18 from 5-7 p.m. and will be on display through August 9.

Camden artist Jessica Lee Ives will present an artist talk about her work on Thursday, July 25, at 5 p.m.

Plein air painter Ken DeWaard is known for his mastery of composition and capturing the romance of life in Maine. Embracing the rewards and challenges that arise from painting under an open sky, DeWaard's paintings create harmonies from the fleeting effects of light and ever-changing color nuances. Working on location, DeWaard gets to know the people who work the farms and run the sailboats that he paints. His paintings have a personal connection to the landscape and the people who inhabit it.

Whether swimming, fishing, or hiking, Camden artist Jessica Lee Ives paints dynamic figures enveloped in nature. Through her depictions of experiences of immersion and buoyancy in the water or woods, Ives's figures become one with the landscape. Subsumed by the movement of water and reflection of sunlight, her work is filled with adventure, vitality, natural beauty, and wonder.

Nathaniel Meyer paints the landscape as an idealized world with elements of fantasy. His paintings bring references to the golden age of illustration with a modern day visual sensibility. Meyer's unique view of a familiar Maine landscape feels like a setting for a dramatic story where the rocks are more rugged, flowers larger, ocean deeper, and where, even the light, is infused with color.

The opening reception for Far as the Eye Can See coincides with Camden's Art Walk on Thursday, July 18, from 5 to 7 p.m. when Bay View Street will be closed to vehicles and there will be live music, a food truck by @brothershucker, crafting with Miss Amy from the Camden Public Library, and galleries and shops open late.
