CUSHING — On June 17, 2024, we lost our cherished, feisty mom, Elizabeth (Betty) Parsons. She was born August 13, 1927 making her 96 years old but she liked to round it up to 100.

Betty was born to Alyce and Frederick Amborn, the second child of six. Elizabeth attended the old schoolhouse in Lincolnville and graduated from Camden High School. She went on to graduate from Bangor Business School.

Elizabeth married Clyde Peabody and they had three children: Charles Frederick Peabody (Pd.), Joyce Marie Peabody and Alyce Elizabeth Peabody.

Elizabeth suddenly found herself single again with two young daughters to raise. With help from family and friends, she rose to the task. She worked multiple jobs including The Rockport Drive-in and the Strand Theatre. In 1952, she landed her last job as a bookkeeper at the Green Island Packing (later Port Clyde Canning). After more than 45 years, she retired at 70 only because the sardine factory closed.

Betty married Herbert C. Parsons in the early 1960s. They were blessed with a son, Bryce C. Parsons.

Mama loved family, travelling, restaurants and parties along with many other things. She was a social butterfly and was up to try anything. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Rockland. She was an active member of the Woman’s Club in Lincolnville and a member of the Easternstar.

Betty was predeceased by her parents; husbands, Clyde Peabody and Herbert C Parsons; sons, Charles Frederick Peabody and Bryce Clifford Parsons; sisters Lillian DeBeau, Frederica Williams; brother Fred Amborn.

She is survived by daughters Joyce Levinson and partner Jim of Slainesville, West Virginia, Alyce Boynton and husband Mark of Thomaston, Maine; grandson Todd Boynton and wife Tara of Thomaston; granddaughter Kerry Boynton of Buxton, Maine; grandson Wayne Parsons and wife Deb; sister Barbara Collemer and brother Charles Amborn both of Lincolnville; great grandchildren Cassidy Boynton, Emily Boynton, MacKenzie Murry, Miles Murray, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

A Funeral will be held on Monday, July 1, at 1 p.m., at Bay Shore Church in Lincolnville, with a graveside service at Maplewood Cemetery in Lincolnville to follow. A Celebration of life will be at Bayshore Church after the burial.

In Lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to Dana-Farber/Jimmy Fund Clinic Cancer Institute in Memory of Elizabeth Parsons. P.O Box 849168 Boston MA 02284.
