Palermo woman among six new Maine State Trooper graduates

    On Oct. 29, 2021, the 75th Recruit Training Troop graduated after completing a rigorous 10 weeks of intensive training in addition to the 18-week Basic Law Enforcement Training Program. The new troopers will next go to their assigned Troops and complete their advanced field training and serving the citizens of the State of Maine from York to Aroostook County. 

     

    Trooper Mariah Gleaton, Troop B

    Trooper Mariah Gleaton grew up Palermo, and was raised by her mother Maroulla Gleaton and her stepdad Detective Richard Phippen (MSP Retired).

    After graduating from University of Maine Orono with a bachelor of science in biology, she attended University of Connecticut School of Law and obtained her Juris Doctorate in 2014. 

    She worked as an attorney for six years prior to joining the Maine State Police. Wanting to serve a greater purpose drove her to join the Maine State Police. 

    Gleaton is assigned to Troop B on I-295. She hopes to reduce the influx of drugs into Northern Maine through interdiction work, and to decrease the number of intoxicated drivers by policing I-295. Eventually, Gleaton would like to join the Incident Management Team. 


    Trooper Denver D. Roy, Troop F

    Trooper Denver D. Roy is from Frenchville.  One of nine children, he was a homeschooled high school graduate who attended Seton Home Study School.  He attended the University of Maine at Fort Kent, where he earned an associate degree in criminal justice and a minor degree in forensic science.  

    Roy is currently assigned to Troop F where he will be patrolling northern and central Aroostook County.  As a Maine State Trooper, he aspires to become a member of the Evidence Response Team and focus his career towards becoming a major crimes detective and a polygraph examiner.   


    Trooper Andrew R. Peterson, Troop E

     Trooper Andrew R. Peterson is from Bolton, Connecticut, and now lives in Hudson, Maine. He graduated from Bolton High School and studied Fire Science and Emergency Medical Services at Eastern Maine Community College. 

    Tpr. Peterson is assigned to Troop E, Northern Penobscot County. He would like to become a crash reconstructionist and a diver on the Underwater Recovery Team.


    Trooper Craig Nilsen, Troop B

    Trooper Craig Nilsen grew up on Long Island, New York, and he moved to Maine about five e years ago. He holds an associate’s degree, and he is working on finishing his bachelor’s degree. 

    Nilsen will be going to Troop B, and his patrol area will be Androscoggin County. One of his many aspirations are that he wants to be on the Tac Team. Tpr. Nilsen wants to make good impacts on people’s lives and serve the State of Maine as best he can.


    Trooper Dalton Favreau, Troop D

    Trooper Dalton Favreau was born in Norwood, Massachusetts, but moved to Brunswick, where he grew up. He graduated from Brunswick High School in 2014 and later attended Purdue University, where he obtained his associate's degree in criminal justice. 

    Favreau is assigned to Troop D, where he will be primarily responsible for covering Waldo County.

    Favreau's aspirations for the Maine State Police are to become a Drug Recognition Expert, join the State Police Impaired Driving Team, and become a K-9 handler.


    Trooper Jeremy Dwelley, Troop E

    Trooper Jeremy Dwelley is originally from Alexander. He grew up in the carpentry business, where he learned the values of hard work and integrity. Dwelley was homeschooled through high school and attended Southern Maine Community College for Fire Science where he achieved his Firefighter I & II certification. 

    He is assigned to Troop E northern Penobscot County and he would like to join the State police Tactical team and become a K-9 handler.
