    CAMDEN — Movies, yoga, walking tours, art, music, lectures, and more. Camden Public Library has filled its September calendar with a variety of events.

    TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 3, AT 9:00 AMYOGA IN THE AMPHITHEATRE. Join Denyse for yoga classes by donation in this beautiful setting. A portion of the funds collected will benefit the library. Every Tuesday and Friday through September 27.

    TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 3, AT 7:30 PMCAMDEN INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL SNEAK PEEK. Join Ben Fowlie, founder of the Camden International Film Festival (CIFF) and Executive and Artistic Director of the Points North Institute, for a sneak preview of the 15th edition of your local hometown film fest.

    WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 4, AT 10:00 AMSTROKE SUPPORT GROUP. Stroke survivors, their families, and caregivers meet each first Wednesday of the month to be in community and learn together.

    THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 5, AT 7:00 PM. COFFEEHOUSE – MEHUMAN. Singer/songwriter and guitarist with influences ranging from old-time gospel, to jazz, to blues, and classic rock.

    FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 6, AT 11:00 AM. GROWN UP STORY HOUR. A different story read aloud each week by a rotating group of librarians and community members. Every Friday morning.

    FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 6, AT 4:00 PM. CHESS CLUB. Learn new skills and practice for all levels. New members welcome. Every Friday afternoon.

    SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 7, AT 3:00 PM. Meet the artist and view exquisite fabric art quilts from Linda Shepard's exhibit called "Animal Alchemy" in the Picker Room Gallery.

    TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 10, AT 1:00 PMTUESDAY BOOK CLUB. This month's selection is The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time by Mark Haddon. A bestselling modern classic about a boy with autism who sets out to solve the murder of a neighbor’s dog and discovers unexpected truths about himself and the world. The group meets on the second Tuesday of the month. New members welcome!

    TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 10, AT 7:00 PMAUTHOR TALK WITH DANIEL DUNKLE: THE SCRIMSHAW WORM. Local journalist, Daniel Dunkle, presents on his new whaling era novel. A combination of horror, science fiction, and meticulous historical research.

    WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 11, AT 1:30 PMPOETRY AS COLLABORATIVE EXPRESSION. Quarry Hill and Camden Public Library invite art and poetry lovers age 50 and better to an inspiring educational event.     TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 17, AT 7:00 PMCamden Conference Talk by Michael Roskin: The Media and International Relations. Well known journalist and frequent Camden Conference speaker discusses the historic shifts in how we communicate and how these changes are affecting our thinking.

    THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 19, AT 7:00 PMMIDCOAST AUDUBON TALKS. Series of presentations that will focus on local conservation topics. Check library website calendar for details in the weeks prior to the program.

    THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 26, AT 7:00 PMONE BRIDGE, TWO VOICES/UN PUENTE, DOS VOCES. Honduran poet Ana María Alemán and Camden poet Janet Gold will discuss and read selections from their book. They will also describe some of the challenges of publishing in a country (Honduras) struggling with economic, social, and political crises, and share inspiring stories of cultural collaboration and creativity from a historic gathering of more than fifty poets from around the world.
