The elderly man reported missing this afternoon was located at a Gardiner store. Frank Birch called to tell his wife he had gone Christmas shopping, though confused about the town he was in, according to a news release from the Maine Dept. of Public Safety. A Maine State Trooper went to the store to confirm that Birch was safe.

State Police earlier this afternoon, Dec. 22, asked  the public's help in locating an elderly New Gloucester man who did not show up for a medical appointment this morning in Yarmouth and is believed to be operating his pickup truck.

78 year old Frank Birch was last seen about 8:30 this morning in North Yarmouth after his truck was pulled out of a snow bank by a wrecker. There was no damage to the truck and Birch then drove off. Birch was on the way to a medical appointment in Yarmouth, which he never showed up for.

Birch is driving his 2002 green Dodge pickup truck with Maine license plate 8220G. Birch was reported missing by his wife this afternoon. He does have some issues with memory loss. Anyone seeing the truck should call State Police in Gray at 657-3030.
