BELFAST — A Benton man was sentenced in Waldo County Superior Court to spend life in prison after pleading no contest to two counts of murder for the shooting deaths of his sister and brother-in-law.

Glenn Brown, now 68, was arrested and charged with murder Oct. 5, 2020, after reportedly confessing to Belfast Police that he had shot somebody.

In addition to two life sentences, Brown was also ordered to $17,209.20 in restitution to a victims fund.

Tina Bowden was discovered at her Waldo home deceased, with a gunshot to her head. Brown’s second victim, Tina’s husband, Richard Bowden, was discovered still showing faint signs of life. Richard Bowden was pronounced dead after being transported to the hospital.

Police learned from one of Brown’s brothers that there was on ongoing feud in the family involving his sister, Tina Bowden. The familial discord was related to the estate of their stepfather.

Brown has been held in custody since his Oct. 2020 arrest.
