Rockland commends John Temple for 20 years of service
ROCKLAND — In commemorating John Temple for his 20 years of service to the city’s Solid Waste facility, Rockland City Council members shared their appreciation for Temple’s willingness to do the work that others won’t do.
As Councilor Louise MacLellan-Ruf stated: “It is a dirty, dirty job. Somebody has to do it, and you’ve done it.”
According to City Manager James Chaousis II, there is a lot of work at the transfer station that no one wants to do, but the work gets done regardless.
“Mr. Temple is the leader down there, and he certainly is making things happen,” Chaousis said.
Councilor Larry Pritchett speculated that Temple has “probably done all of the dirtiest jobs that exist in solid waste in the city.”
Pritchett told audience members that he has seen Temple covered in hydraulic fluid and mud, and that he is appreciative of Temple for “sliding through all of the challenges of recent years.”
