VINALHAVEN — Midsummer II show at New Era Gallery, Vinalhaven opens Saturday, August 3, with an artists’ talk at 4:30 p.m., in the Windy Way Barn, followed by a reception from 5 - 7 p.m. The show features the work of Andrew Anderson-Bell, Ken Banks and William Trevaskis.

Anderson-Bell is a representational landscape pastel artist. The immediacy of the medium, its vibrancy of colors and diversity of mark-making, inspires him to paint tranquil images of nature on the islands of Penobscot Bay.

Ken Banks and Bill Trevaskis use alternative photographic processing to render objects and scenes of everyday life in reimagined ways. Banks’ “Chair” series focuses on a single object, while Trevaskis looks at the natural world encountered on North Haven and Vinalhaven.
