Charges filed in relation to one Unity fire, investigations continue into two more

    UNITY — On Dec. 30, 2020, Investigators from the state Fire Marshal’s office, deputies from the Waldo County Sheriff’s Department, and Agents from the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms executed a search warrant at an apartment building located at 369 School Street in Unity, according to a State Police news release. 

    At approximately 6 p.m., investigators searched one apartment and secured a 2009 Toyota Camry. The vehicle was searched and transported to Augusta for further examination. 

    Investigators also arrested Derek Creasy, 38, of Unity, charging him with Arson and Attempted Murder for a fire that occurred at 30 Turner Court in Unity on December 22, the release said.  

    Creasy was transported to the Waldo County Jail. 

    Investigators from the state Fire Marshal’s office have had a presence in Unity for most of the past week and have been assisted with their investigative efforts by the Waldo County Sheriff’s Department and Agents from the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms.

    The second fire that occurred at 30 Turner Court and a third fire that occurred at the United Methodist Church in Unity are still under investigation. If anyone has information regarding the fires, please call 207-624-7076 and ask to speak to Sgt. Joel Davis.

     


    Three fires in a week draw investigators to Unity

    UNITY — The Maine State Fire Marshall’s Office is seeking information from the public as investigators search debris from three fires, one of which occurred at a church.

    Investigators responded to a mobile home fire in Unity, Dec. 22, 2020, at approximately 5 a.m., at 30 Turner Court. Investigators returned to 30 Turner Court on Saturday, Dec. 26, 2020, at approximately 6:30 p.m., for a second fire. 

    Both fires are currently under investigation, according to a State Police news release.

    On December 28, at approximately 6 p.m., investigators responded to a fire at the United Methodist Church, in Unity, located at 29 Depot Street.

    Fire Marshal’s Office has staff at the church today, December 29, processing the scene and they will continue with their investigative efforts throughout day.
