Vinalhaven begins search for new school principal
VINALHAVEN — As the search for a new Vinalhaven superintendent winds down, a new search has begun for a position within the school’s administrative team.
At an April 3 budget workshop session, Vinalhaven principal Ann Kirkpatrick submitted her resignation effective the end of the academic year, according to an April 10 letter from outgoing Superintendent Roy G. Crawford.
Kirkpatrick is to become the new superintendent and principal of Chebeague Island School, in Cumberland County.
Kirkpatrick began at Vinalhaven in July 2017 and boasts over two decades of school administration experience.
Immediately prior to her Vinalhaven post, she spent nearly four years as the superintendent for School Administrative District 4 and Regional School District 80, which includes Piscataquis Community Elementary School and Piscataquis Community High School.
She also spent 11 years as the principal at Warren Elementary School and Friendship Village School.
Kirkpatrick also spent time as a physical education teacher, athletic director and coach or official for swimming, soccer, basketball, softball and track and field teams.
The position is currently being advertised with the selected candidate required to live on the island. The application deadline is April 26, or when a suitable candidate is found.
