Medomak Valley Girls Soccer teams prevail over Erskine Academy
Medomak Valley High School varsity and junior teams both scored wins over Erskine Academy. The following synopsis is courtesy of Coach Andrea Williamson.
Varsity Game
Medomak got off to a fast start over Erskine. About 25 minutes into the first half, Kytana Williamson struck the ball on a leading pass to Scarlett Flint where she had a breakaway and finished with the ball in the net giving MVHS the lead 1 to 0.
The game stayed 1 to 0 for the entire first half.
In the second half about 15 minutes in, Anna Cheesman fought for the ball near the 18 and was knocked down hard by an Erskine player.
MVHS was given a direct kick where Haylee Chandler took it and had a beautiful direct kick where she bent it into the top right hand corner of the net. This gave MVHS a 2 to 0 lead.
About six minutes later Flint took a goal kick, where it reached over half field, where Williamson was waiting, took the ball and beat the defender and scored on a hard hit ball, giving MVHS a 3 to 0 lead.
MVHS won 3 to 0.
Chloe Fox in goal for Medomak had 9 saves in the first half and no saves in the 2nd, as Medomak kept the ball in their scoring end in the second half.
Erskines goalie made 7 saves.
Great defense was played by Hayle Blake, Rachel Barbour, Jennika Schumann and Grace Havener. As well as great mid field play by Williamson, Chandler, Flint and Rachel Richardson.
JV Game
Less than three minutes into the game Anna Cheesman scored off a corner kick by Remi Winchenbach giving MVHS the early lead 1 to 0.
With less than three minutes left in the game (it was a 30 minute game in total) Ella McCllean had an awesome throw to midfield, where Remi Winchenbach took the ball and served it up to Anna Cheesman where Cheesman finished and found the back of the net again, giving MVHS the lead 2 to 0.
MVHS won the game 2 to 0.
