Letter to the editor: Owen Casas ready to represent us all

Tue, 10/18/2016 - 9:45pm

Independent Owen Casas is an excellent choice to be our State Representative for District 94 in Augusta. As a selectman, he has demonstrated his commitment to, and enthusiasm for, working for the people, not only of Rockport but for the Camden and Islesboro communities also. On issues that affected all residents, Owen Casas worked tirelessly. He was instrumental as a member of the Midcoast Solid Waste Board of Directors securing a better contract. He tirelessly worked to mitigate the pollution problems at Goodies Beach, as well as making Babe Ruth Field playable and safe by having it repaired.

We feel confident that he is a person who work hard for our district. He is a good listener, patient and very approachable. He has already made himself well versed in the needs of our public agencies, like the fire and police departments. No one likes taxes nor does anyone like services cut, either. With decreasing property valuations, Casas approached this unenviable task with prudence and sound judgement. Some hard choices had to be made, and we feel he make the correct ones.

Finally, we are impressed that Owen Casas is open and listens to all of our ideas. We are confident that he will take all our considerations to Augusta. He is a young, energetic and very dedicated man who is ready to represent "all of us."
