Letter to the editor: John Spear, experienced and trustworthy

I am an independent voter and I will be supporting John Spear for the Maine House of Representative in Legislative District 92. I have known John Spear for fifteen years and I can’t think of another candidate who is more qualified to represent us in Augusta.  I was fortunate to work with John for eight years in SAD 50 when I was Principal of the ST. George School and John was the district’s Business Manager. John was an integral member of the administrative team and was involved in all decisions made in the school district.  Besides his outstanding budgeting and financial management skills, John is a clear thinker and excellent communicator.  John is a team player and is always willing to listen to all perspectives in helping the team arrive at a consensus that was best for all involved. John is solutions based, striving to do what is in the best interests for the common good of all. John is honest and trustworthy, character traits that are sorely needed in the political climate of today.

After leaving the school district, John has had several experiences with town government.  John has never been afraid to take on tough issues but has done so while achieving high levels of respect from the staff he has worked with on a daily basis.  When faced with difficult issues, John rolls up his sleeves and gets to work to solve the problem.  John also has an excellent sense of humor which always allows for a good perspective when dealing with the issues of the day.  In my day to day work with John, I have seen how he respects all people and is willing to listen to all sides of an issue.

The political arena has become all too often negative and cynical. John Spear is exactly the type of individual we need to represent us in Augusta. I know John Spear will take seriously the issues and concerns of the people of Cushing, Matinicus, Thomaston, St. George and South Thomaston.  That is just the way John does business.  We need a legislator who will work hard in Augusta  to represent all of us. I urge everyone to vote for John Spear on November 8th.
