Missing man wanted by Lewiston police for sexual assaults
ROCKLAND — A Lewiston man who was reported missing since April 29, and whose vehicle was later located in Union and confirmed by Knox County Sheriff deputies, is wanted on multiple sexual assault charges.
Knox County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Tim Carroll confirmed that there are arrest warrants out of the Lewiston Police Department in Androscoggin County for 44-year-old Kevin C. Mitchell.
The Lewiston Police Department, who is using social media to help apprehend Mitchell, posted on its Facebook page that Mitchell is the subject of a felony investigation by the agency and currently has warrants for his arrest are for four counts of Class A gross sexual assault, two counts of Class A unlawful sexual contact, and one count of Class B unlawful sexual contact.
At approximately 9:15 p.m. on Tuesday, May 2, Knox County Sheriff deputies were called regarding a suspicious vehicle on the side of the road on Mt. Pleasant Road in Union.
Information gathered there led them to the vehicle belonging to Mitchell. Mitchell’s wife reported him missing as of April 29.
Mitchell apparently has ties in this area from when he was younger. A search around where the vehicle was located by Knox County Sheriff’s Office and Maine Warden Service K-9 Units has not turned anything up.
Mitchell is described as 6 feet, 1 inch tall, 220 pounds with graying hair and blue eyes.
