‘Come Spring’ and Union Founders’ Day history tours begin Friday
Union Historical Society will offer its annual narrated bus tour of early historic sites during the town’s Founders Day weekend, July 15-18. Tours depart from the Old Town House on Town House Road, just off Union Common, at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, July 15, and at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 16. All the sites visited during the two-hour tour are related to the settlers mentioned in Come Spring, Ben Ames Williams’ 1940 historic novel, which in turn is based on information in John Langdon Sibley’s 1851 History of the Town of Union.
Four of the sites are located on private property and are not open to the public at other times. Tickets are priced at $12 and can be purchased by calling 385-4611 and leaving a message, or by coming to the Old Town House at least 30 minutes before the tours depart.
