Maine Lighthouse Museum in Rockland now open seven days a week
ROCKLAND — The Maine Lighthouse Museum, home to the largest collection of lighthouse, life-saving and U.S. Coast Guard artifacts in the nation, is now open for the summer season Monday-Friday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday-Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The museum is located at One Park Drive in downtown Rockland, overlooking Rockland Harbor and Penobscot Bay. Parking is free at the Trade Winds Motor Inn across the street while visiting, thanks to the Liberty family. The museum welcomes new members, and joining can be as little as $25. There are many different levels of membership, each with its own benefits.
All members of the U.S. Coast Guard, active and retired are admitted free to the museum.
The museum is also seeking a part-time worker to help out at the on-site Lighthouse Gift Shop. Some sales experience is helpful but training is also available. The position will start immediately and will involve working about 15 - 20 hours per week.
For consideration, call Interim Director Dot Black at 975-9690 or the museum at 594-3301.
