Record number of job openings posted to Maine's Job Bank through March
AUGUSTA — Maine's Job Bank, available at mainecareercenter.com, had 10,195 total open positions available for job seekers as of April 1. The number is an all-time high for the online labor exchange service that is available through the Department of Labor and its CareerCenters.
"Maine employers are hiring," said Governor Paul R. LePage in a news release. "There are thousands of available jobs in Maine paying over the minimum wage. CareerCenter job fairs, workshops and additional no-cost resources can help you find a job or train for a new career."
The jobs on the Job Bank range from entry level to professional and include positions in healthcare, manufacturing, business services and many other industries, for example:
Downeast Transportation Inc.: 90 Shuttle Bus Drivers in Bar Harbor.
Great Falls Marketing: 100 Telephone Sales Professionals; 50 In Auburn, 50 in Augusta.
Integrated Business Solutions: Hiring a System Integration/Test Engineer.
Jackson Laboratory: Hiring a Scientific Software Engineer/Web Developer.
Maine Staffing Group: Hiring 100 Flaggers throughout Maine.
Mission Solutions: Hiring an AEGIS Engineer.
Woodfords Family Services: Hiring 41 positions, including Teacher Assistants, Behavioral Health Professionals, Direct Support Professionals throughout the state.
Commissioner of Labor Jeanne Paquette explained how the department uses the Job Bank to help laid-off, unemployed or underemployed workers, "We remind employers that the department's first place to look for jobs for affected workers is Maine's Job Bank. Here they can post and access their account 24/7 at no charge. There is also no cost to job seekers to search or post their resumes."
All job listings on Maine's Job Bank have been posted within the last 90 days by employers and dedicated staff at the Department of Labor. The team at the department reviews each employer that registers and its respective postings before activating the job live on the site. CareerCenter staff follow up with employers after two weeks to review the listing's response, make any adjustments, or take the listing down when filled.
Mainers who register for a no-cost job seeker account will be able to add their resume, enter their skills and experience and create email alerts to receive jobs that most closely match their profile. Maine's Job Bank includes a custom matching system that connects the requirements of the job opening with the skills and experience of a job seeker; accepting the referral is the first step in applying for the job.
Maine's Job Bank is one of many no-charge services provided by the CareerCenters; all services and workshops help people find employment or upgrade skills. Each center provides several public-access workstations with Microsoft Office software, resume writing and cover letter software, Internet access and O*Net software for skills assessment.
