RSU 13 incumbent Tess Kilgour withdraws from November race
ROCKLAND — As of October 19, 2015, Esther M. "Tess" Kilgour has withdrawn her candidacy for RSU 13 school board. Kilgour's name will still appear on the November 3 Municipal Election ballot. However, pursuant to 21-A M.R.S. §374-A(3), any votes cast for this candidate will not be counted, according to a news release.
In an October 19 letter to the city clerk and Rockland City Councilors, Kilgour wrote: “I am writing to notify you of my intent to withdraw my name as a candidate for RSU 13 school board.
It has been an incredible nine years of education and I want to thank the people of Rockland for the privilege of representing them.”
Remaining candidates for Rockland positions include:
City Council: William J. Jillson, Deborah O. Atwell, and Frank Isganitis
RSU 13 (vote for two): Jesse L Butler and Nancy L. Mathieson-Jeffers
Rockland Port District: James M. Kalloch
Warden: Chelsea M. Avirett
Ward Clerk: Hannah D. Woodman
Plus questions on possible withdrawal from RSU 13: Forming a committee would allow the select group to further research whether withdrawing is in Rockland’s best interest. To form a committee is not to declare the withdrawal to be a done deal.
See attachments for how the official Rockland and State ballots appear.
