Rockland Library hosts free Teen Summer Art Series
ROCKLAND — Rockland Public Library, 80 Union St., will host a free Teen Summer Art Series: Chalk and Charcoal with Alayna Smith, open to youth ages 12 to 18. Materials will be provided.
The first class of four will be Saturday, June 13, at 11 a.m. Smith will teach students how to use basic techniques with chalk and charcoals such as proper shading, finding the light source and creating different textures such as smooth and harsh marks.
Subsequent classes will be: Saturday, June 27, Chalk and Charcoal refresher and continue skill building and self-expression; Saturday, July 18, Color Pastels; and Saturday, July 25, Color Pastel refresher and self-expression exercises.
The Teen Summer Art Series will continue into August with Homemade Sidewalk Chalk Making and Decorating the Library Circle with library staff. Teens may come to all programs, and prior attendance is not a requirement.
