The Red Thread Pop-Up Show opens in Hope May 22
HOPE – Amy Wilton will be hosting an opening of her new body of work, The Red Thread, at her studio in Hope on Friday, May 22, from 5-9 p.m. The studio is located at 458 Camden Road in Hope, across from Sweet Tree Arts.
Wilton has been a photographer in the area since she moved here in 1997 to get her MFA from Maine Media College, and is known for her portrait, wedding and editorial photography. The Red Thread represents a new direction in Wilton's creative life. After having created a large-scale mixed media installation for her master's thesis at MMC in 2001, she became a full-time photographer and put the mixed media work on hold.
She has recently rekindled that passion, and has created a diverse body of work ranging from sculpture to oil painting. For Wilton, the red thread is the common denominator between all of her pieces. To Wilton, this thread represents the gift of creativity given by the Divine. She believes that every person arrives with a gift that makes them unique and how they choose to embrace or disregard the gift, will affect the course of their lives.
Amy Wilton lives in Hope with her husband and two children. To see more of Amy's photography and mixed media work, please visit her website at www.amywiltonphotography.com.
