Donations welcomed for Belfast Garden Club’s annual Green Thumb plant sale
BELFAST — Midcoast gardeners are asked by the Belfast Garden Club to remember its annual Green Thumb Plant Sale set for Saturday, May 16 at the Belfast Boathouse.
The sale depends on local gardeners, farmers and nursery operators. Gardeners dividing perennials or starting seedlings, may donate some to the sale.
Six-packs of flowers, veggies and herbs will be accepted as well.
Bring potted plants to 10 Bradbury Street (at the corner of Charles Street) Wednesday, May 13, between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Attach a label with the plant’s generic name and color. Donators desiring an acknowledgment letter must include name and address, and the plant’s estimated value.
If the donation cannot be brought in a pot, bring moist, labeled root balls in garbage bags. Club volunteers will pot and label them.
You may also bring donations (potted and labeled plants only) to the Belfast Boathouse at 34 Commercial Street Friday, May 15, between 8 a.m. and noon.
For questions, or to have donations picked up, contact Kelly Gould at 763-3105 or KellyGould@aol.com.
Proceeds from the Green Thumb Plant Sale help the Belfast Garden Club maintain 12 public gardens in Belfast. They also help fund its scholarship program for Waldo County high school graduates earning a degree in horticulture, sustainable agriculture or a related field.
