A trip through Asia gallery exhibit at Belfast library
BELFAST — For the month of January an exhibit of Asian themed art quilts by Amy Nichols and Alison Olds will be on display in the Kramer Gallery of the Belfast Free Library.
Amy Nichols and Alison Olds have been friends and co-creators for many years. Living next door to each other on a hilltop in Jackson, they are longtime members of the quilt group Art Quilts Maine, and have exhibited and sold their small art quilts in several shows.
Together Nichols and Olds have taken many classes and workshops with world-renowned presenters, including a Sashiko workshop with the renowned quilt maker Pepper Cory. This sparked an interest in creating a series of quilts with an Asian theme.
The quilts made for this exhibit include vintage kimono fabric, Dupioni silk, and fabric from Afghanistan in their design.
The Kramer Gallery is located on the ground floor of the Belfast Free Library is open during library hours.
