Owls Head Garden Club welcomes new copresidents
OWLS HEAD — Members of the Owls Head Garden Club recently elected Susan Thomas and Linda Synnefakis as copresidents. Also elected at the Club’s Annual Meeting were Jeanne Johnson, vice-president; Sue Cran, treasurer; and Elizabeth Hunt, secretary.
The Club was founded in 1972 by a group of local residents to encourage and cultivate an interest in gardening.
The organization aids in the protection and conservation of natural resources and encourages the study of horticulture and flower arranging. The Club also promotes the beautification and preservation of community areas. Garden Club members maintain plantings at the Owls Head Community Building, the Winnie Barbour Teardrop at the intersection of North Shore Drive and Route 73, the Village Memorial and Foster Square; planters at the Town Line and the Grange Traffic Island, as well as window boxes at the Library and the Grange. The Club’s scholarship programs are supported by the annual Plant and Bake Sale in June. This year’s sale was a great success thanks to the support of area residents and visitors.
Monthly meetings of the Garden Club are held from September through May at the Owls Head Community Building on Ash Point Drive. The Club welcomes new members from Owls Head and the neighboring communities.
