“The Courier-Gazette: Past, Present, and Future” talk at Rockland library
The Rockland Public Library presents a program, Thursday, Oct. 17, at 6 p.m. This event is free and open to all.
Join Courier-Gazette editorial staff in a trip through nearly two centuries of newspaper history. They will discuss the evolution of the Courier-Gazette (est. 1846) over the decades and review notable issues and stories over the years. The program will conclude with a participatory discussion about how news and information are distributed today and their hopes for the future of news in the 21st century.
Presenters:
Christine Simmonds is a Rockland native and Managing Editor of the Courier-Gazette.
Drew Himmelstein is the community engagement and solutions journalism editor for the Midcoast Villager, where she dreams up innovative ways to encourage civic dialogue and reports on how we can improve some of the most pressing problems in our community.
This event will take place in the Community Room and will be livestreamed via Zoom; the Rockland Public Library is located at 80 Union St. For more information, please email elewis@rocklandmaine.gov by 4 p.m. on October 17.
