Diane Rose Buckley, obituary
LINCOLNVILLE — Diane Rose Buckley, age 78, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2024 in Rockport, Maine, surrounded by her family.
She is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 58 wonderful years, John F. "Jack" Buckley. She was the amazing and loving mother to three daughters, Christine (deceased), Noelle Weinberg (Jonathan Weinberg), and Jennifer Stewart (John Stewart). Diane is survived by her four grandsons, Zachary Childress, Michael and Jack Haefner, and Colin Stewart. She is also survived by her sister, Armida Fong.
She was born in Corona, Queens, New York on August 6, 1946 to Joseph and Rose Poli. While attending Westbrook College, she met the love of her life in Hershey Hall on a blind date. Jack Buckley was immediately smitten, and the rest, he will proudly tell you, is history.
Diane lived a full and happy life, moving all over the country with her family. She enjoyed gardening, growing many a Victory Garden with her husband (some of the biggest zucchini that you could ever have seen!). She absolutely loved Christmas, and hers was always the most festive house around at that time of year, with the greatest variety of cookies around. Her nutcracker collection and Christmas Village, many of them gifts from her husband, were expansive. impressive, and very festive.
Diane was always generous of spirit, fiercely protective of her family, and the epitome of graciousness. She will be sorely missed and remembered with great fondness.
The extended Buckley family would like to thank the caring staff at DCI of Belfast, Maine for helping to take such extraordinary care of Diane for so many years. They also wish to express their gratitude to the staff at Sussman House for their supportive and gentle care.
