Judith Marie (Young) Lahey, obituary
ROCKLAND — Judith Marie (Young) Lahey, 85, sadly left our world on Friday, July 26, 2024, with her family by her side, following a long illness. Judy had been a resident of Breakwater Commons for the past year where she was cared for by many angels in the memory care unit.
Born on August 19, 1938 in Fairfield, she was the daughter of John Leslie and Rita (Roberts) Young, and attended schools in Camden. In high school, Judy was an outstanding pitcher on the softball team and also a member of the talented basketball team which was inducted into the CHS Hall of Fame.
As a young mother, Judy joined a local bowling league winning many tournaments and trophies. When her children were grown, she became a CNA, Med-Technician working in local nursing facilities and doing private duty care.
In her retirement years, Judy enjoyed her beautiful gardens spending hours on end digging around in the dirt at the age of 80. She loved doing ceramics and made her children a nativity scene like no other. Above all, Judy loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. A special granddaughter, Annie, spent many days and nights with Judy, working in her gardens, doing puzzles and other activities. Annie referred to Nana’s cooking as the best because it was prepared with love. Judy will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Tony Lahey; daughter Maryellen Benner; brothers Bill, John, Jim and Bobby.
Surviving are her children Marie Crocket Pierce of Lincolnville, Mark Crockett of Bocca Raton, Florida, Michael (Lyndsey) of Searsport, Stephanie (Edward Thorbjornson) Stone of St. George; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brother Richard (Pam) Young of Milford. Judy will be fondly remembered by her lifelong friends, Mary Ann Solletti and Louise Young.
