The Crock Pot of Belfast to host Interdependence Day event
BELFAST — The Crock Pot, of Belfast, is hosting an “Interdependence Day” event on Saturday, July 6, from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Belfast, at 37 Miller St., in downtown Belfast. This is the Crock Pot's second all day event (following its joyfully successful launch in October).
This event will celebrate all manner of mutual aid, connection, and community work offered in the spirit of gift economics (no charge). The Crock Pot aims to bring people together to learn how the community can better support one another in a multitude of ways. There will be a fair featuring a wide variety of local groups offering valuable free services to the community, along with music, games, creative and thoughtful workshops, a potluck room, a give and take table, and opportunities to connect with others in meaningful ways. The building is wheelchair accessible.
Content will take place in two blocks, from 9 a.m. - noon, and from 1 - 4 p.m., with potluck lunch and music during the break, and some open ended celebration and connection from 4 -5 p.m.
“ Join for as little or as much as you wish,” said Aimee Moffitt-Mercer, in a news release.
If you feel so inspired, bring food and drink to share in the potluck, and bring your own dish and utensils if possible. Also, if you have smaller items in good condition that you no longer want, and want to give away, please bring them to offer on the give and take table, and look for different items you might find useful that others have offered.
What is the Crock Pot? A still very young collaborative community endeavor organized and offered freely, entirely within The Gift. The Crock Pot nurtures and grows spaces and systems for individual and community healing, connection, and transformation. The organization sees working together in community, finding collaborative solutions to taking care of ourselves, using the community's diverse skills, interests and wisdom, as great steps toward decreasing dependence upon unhealthy global systems. The Crock Pot wishes to co-create spaces where all types of people can gather around tables to share stories, learn from one another, offer meaningful support, and connect and grow together so we can collectively meet the challenges of our times with thoughtfulness, compassion, and creativity.
All are welcome. And all events are free.
Also, volunteers/supporters are still needed for this event.
