Sharon Luretta Burgess Bennett, obituary
CAMDEN — Sharon Luretta Burgess Bennett, 81, of Camden, passed away after a brief illness Tuesday, February 20, 2024, in Portland. Sharon was born in Kingfield on April 9, 1942, and was the daughter of John and Myra (Crocker) Burgess.
Sharon attended John Bapst High School and Beals Business School. She met her husband, Wayne, when he was a customer and she a waitress at a local Bangor restaurant. They were married May 5, 1963, at the First United Methodist Church in Orrington and celebrated 60 years in 2023.
For 20 years, Sharon was employed at Seacoast Security answering service, then 27 years was an Avon representative in the Camden area.
Sharon and Wayne built a beautiful camp on Schoodic Lake where they spent summer days relaxing and enjoying fresh grown produce from a nearby farm. Through the years they did some hiking in Baxter Park and camping in various places in Maine. During the winter months they enjoyed spending time in Florida.
Sharon will be remembered for her kindness to others, her patience and understanding, and for bringing delicious dishes to share at family gatherings.
The family thanks the staff at Maine Medical Center, Portland, for their excellent care.
Surviving is her son, John Carl Bennett; brother, James Edward and his wife Mary Burgess of Florida; sisters-in-law Donna Golding and Sharon Caron; brother-in-law John Bennett and Betty; many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Wayne; her sister Cheryl and James Murray; brother-in-law Allen Caron; and sister-in-law Laurie Bennett.

Per Sharon's wishes, there will be no service.
