Kevin J. Downer, obituary
ROCKLAND — Kevin J. Downer, 62, died peacefully, Tuesday, January 9, 2024, with his loving family at his side after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Kevin was born with Down Syndrome and lived a rich and positive life. He attended and later graduated from the Henderson School in 1983.
For several years he worked at Coastal Workshop in Camden and later moved on to Willow Street Bakery where he made donuts. Kevin finished his working career at Shop n’ Save, staying with the company through their transition to Hannaford, retiring in 2006.
Kevin enjoyed his time with the Boy Scouts and was also an honorary member of the Rockland Lions Club. He was always funny, happy and eager to help anyone in need. He will be forever missed by his family and anyone who knew him.
Predeceased by his father, John Downer in 2006; Kevin is survived by his mother, Yvonne Genest Downer of Rockland; his sisters, Colleen Downer and her partner Jeff of Waldoboro, Patricia Pettee of Richmond, Jeanne Eustis and her husband Bill of Rockland, Arielle Downer of Rockland; his nieces and nephews, Alex Downer and his wife Olivia of Minnesota, Kera Gould and her husband Bill of Rockland, Bill Eustis of Rockland, Christopher Eustis and his wife Hannah of Florida, Kimberly Pettee and her partner Dylan of Richmond, Jacob Pettee of Richmond; and a great-niece and great-nephew, Annabelle ‘Ashe’ Gould and Sammy Gould; as well
as a large extended family in New York.
Kevin’s family will remember his life privately and he will be laid to rest with his father at Achorn Cemetery at a later date.
