Randall “Randy” Rickards, obituary
SOUTH THOMASTON — Randall “Randy” Rickards went home to be with his Lord and Savior on September 18, 2023, due to injuries sustained in a biking accident.
He was born on October 29, 1958, in Rumford, Maine, to Ernest E. and Mary Gammon Rickards. He grew up in West Peru and Andover, Maine. He was a graduate of Telstar Regional High School and New Brunswick Bible Institute.
He served in the U.S. Navy, U.S. Army and U.S. Army National Guard, serving in Germany, Bosnia and Iraq. He served as the pastor of Bayshore Baptist Church, Lincolnville, Maine, and was a member of Littlefield Memorial Baptist Church.
Randy loved his wife, Ginny, and his family. He was a gifted musician, and wrote music and loved performing his music. He was an accomplished artist, and especially enjoyed painting the coastal areas of Maine where he lived. He was a loving father, a kind, caring, and faithful friend to all who knew him. He loved his Lord, and had a strong faith, finishing his course of life on earth well. He is greatly missed, and we take comfort in knowing that someday we will be reunited with him in heaven.
He was predeceased by his parents, Ernest E. Rickards, and Clarence and Mary Bailey; his sister Nancy Young; brother-in-law Brian Tibbetts; brother-in-law Rev. John Holliday; brother Barry Rickards; and brother Ernest “Rick” Rickards.
He is survived by his wife Ginny, South Thomaston, Maine; sons Peter Rickards, Hampden, Maine; David Rickards, Austin, Texas; daughter Andrea Rickards, Portland, Maine and their mother, Alma Rickards; and step-son, Shawn Demo, Rhode Island; siblings, Rosalie Holliday of Bethel, Maine, Howard (Laurie) Bailey of Andover, Maine, Barbara Dakin of Thomaston, Maine, June (Michael) Inman of Albany, Maine, Donald (Barb) Bailey, Appomattox, Virginia, Kathy Tibbets of Bethel, Maine, Patti (Steve) Wood of Warren, Maine, Judy (Garth) Conrad of East Andover, Maine; brother-in-law James Young of Bethel, Maine; sister-in-law Sharon Rickards, Rumford, Maine; sister-in-law Carole Rickards of West Peru, Maine; and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held on September 23, at 2 p.m., at the Littlefield Memorial Baptist Church, 1 Waldo Avenue, Rockland, ME; Rev. Mark Adolphsen officiating.
There will be a graveside committal service for Randy, October 18, 2023, at 10 a.m., at the Maine Veterans Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road in Augusta.
