EAST SANDWICH, Massachusetts — Sally A. (Baxter) Hasenfus, 85, of East Sandwich, Massachusetts, passed away on September 2, 2023 after a brief period of declining health. She was born in Boston to the late Morgan Francis and Alice Baxter (Gallagher) on October 24, 1938.

Sally grew up in the Boston area and graduated from Needham High School. She met her late husband, Wendell William Hasenfus, in high school, to whom she shared 42 years of marriage. Her fondest memories were when she lived in Hingham spending time with her family, and later in Rockport, Maine where she and her husband owned and operated the Sea View Motel.

She is survived by her daughters Jane E. Hasenfus and her longtime companion Daniel Coleman of Falmouth, Massachusetts, and Laurie Marie Young and her husband Floyd of Rockland, Maine; and her sister-in-law, Nancy Baxter of Farmington, Maine.

She is preceded in passing by her sister, Catherine Pfau of Great Falls, Virginia; and her brother, William Baxter of Farmington, Maine.

The family would like to express much gratitude for the wonderful care by all at Royal Megansett Nursing Home in North Falmouth, Massachusetts over the last 2 years.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, September 7, 2023, at 11:30 a.m., at Corpus Christi Parish, 324 Quaker Meeting House Rd., in East Sandwich, Massachusetts. Burial will follow at Sandwich Town Cemetery, Route 130 in Sandwich. Visitation will be prior from 9 - 11 a.m., at Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 154 Route 6A, Sandwich, Massachusetts.
