Dana E. Cunningham, obituary
ROCKLAND — Dana E. Cunningham, 76, died unexpectedly, Monday, June 12, 2023 at his home.
Born in Augusta, October 25, 1946, he was the son of Nelson and Eleanor Chase Jacques. After leaving high school early, Dana enlisted in the US Army, serving from 1965 to 1968 in Vietnam.
After being honorably discharged, he returned home and eventually earned his high school diploma.
A hard worker his entire life, Dana worked as a commercial painter for most of his career.
When not busy working, he enjoyed watching football and baseball, especially the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox. Spending time at the American Legion, Post No. 1 in Rockland was another favorite pastime. He was a member there for over 33 years. He enjoyed the comradery and friendships formed there and looked forward to his visits.
Dana was always the first in line whenever anyone needed help. He would do anything he could to help others. He loved to joke around, and his laugh was infectious, spreading to everyone in the room.
Most important to Dana was his family. Spending time with them, especially during the holidays was his number one priority.
He will be sadly missed by all who loved him.
Predeceased by his parents and a sister-in-law, Janie Jacques; Dana is survived by his daughters, Susan Fogg and her husband Terry of Rockland, Inez Heino and her husband Paul of Rockland; his brother, John Jacques of
Thomaston; his granddaughters, Rebecca Fogg and Ashley Willey; his great-granddaughter Addyson Schultz; the mother of his children, Lois Grierson; and a brother-in-law, with whom he was very close, Gary Seavey.
