Virginia L. Crabtree, obituary
HOPE — Virginia L. Crabtree, of Hope, passed away peacefully in her home where she was surrounded by her daughters on Sunday, October 9. She was born in Rockland on January 14, 1932, she was the only daughter of Alfred A. and Ada S. Sanders.
Virginia lived in Warren for many years while raising her five daughters. She worked in various positions including: Reeds Gift Shop in Warren, Rankins Hardware in Camden, and as a CNA at Mountain Street nursing home in Camden.
Virginia enjoyed classical music, was an avid gardener, and spent many hours outdoors delighting in cross country and downhill skiing and taking long walks. She adored Siamese cats as well as the many stray cats she cared for over the years. As an animal lover she also volunteered at Pope Memorial Animal Shelter in Thomaston.
Virginia was predeceased by her husband, Everett S. Crabtree in January 24, 2014, and a granddaughter, Sara E. Knowlton in November 24, 1977.
Surviving are her five daughters, Sallyanne Barrett, Helen Barrett, Edna Mahan and her husband, Patrick, Jayne Barrett, and Jean Barrett.
She is also survived by six grandchildren Sam Genthner, Jody Hoffses, Lisa-Marie Sposta, Jesse Barrett, Meagan Bucheister, and Ian Davis as well as six great-grandchildren, Parker and Rory Sposta and Aiden, Camden, Tessa, and Sara Bucheister.
In addition, she is survived by nine step children, Thomas, Timothy, Ted, Todd, Terry, Jane, Elaine, Katherine, and Cindy; 31 step grandchildren and 38 step great-grandchildren.
