Joshua Treat IV, obituary
BELFAST — Joshua Treat IV, passed away on July 3, 2022 after a brief illness. He was born in Boothbay, Maine on February 1, 1950.
Joshua grew up in Belfast, and loved sports from an early age, with fond memories of playing baseball with the Tigers Little League Team. He graduated in 1968 from Belfast High School and went on to attend both the University of Maine and Husson College. Joshua worked most of his life in the family businesses of Perry's Nuthouse and Searsport Shores Campground. Joshua had countless entertaining stories involving the campground and all of the people who stayed there.
Joshua was raised by his loving parents in downtown Belfast, along with his two sisters. The following are Joshua's own words: “What we had there was a community of families and friends who took care of and watched out for every one. What a blessing the 1950's-1960's were. I wish we could go back there.”
Everyone who knew Joshua, could tell you of his great sense of humor, along with his kind and caring nature. He enjoyed gardening, boating on the ocean, many trips to Tucson, Arizona and most of all spending time with his family. Joshua had a deep love of music, particularly classic rock. He shared this love of music with his son Alex, constantly discussing and sharing new music with each other. He was a life-long fan of the Patriots and Red Sox and particularly enjoyed watching games with his family. One of his favorite memories was the Patriots winning the Super Bowl on his birthday in 2015.
Joshua shared his expression of life: “Thank you Lord for the life you gave me, for the hardships and sickness but mostly for all of the great love in my life. Thank you to my loving and caring son Alex, grandson Dawson and Alex's wife Lisa and of course my incredible wife Anne.”
Joshua was predeceased by his sister Linda Treat; his parents, Joshua Treat III and Virginia Vannah Treat; and his aunt Mary Alice Fairley “Sister.”
Joshua is survived by his loving wife, Anne (Clark) Treat; his sons Joshua V & wife Katie and Alexander & Lisa; his grandsons Dawson, Hunter, Colby & Sullivan; his sister Nancy Treat Burnham & brother in laws Phil Burnham and Chip Clark; nieces Deborah & husband Jeff Ryan, Diana Nickerson, Casey Clark, Emily & husband Zachary Robbins; cousin Francis Sherburne and many other cousins, great nieces, nephews and friends.
At his request, there will be a Private Service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Jude's Children's Hospital at St.Judes.com in Joshua's name.
The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at WCGH and Maine Medical Center for their compassionate care of Joshua.
