Alice J. Collyer, obituary
CUSHING — Alice Jane Collyer, 74, died peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at Pen Bay Medical Center following a five year battle with multiple illnesses.
Born in Brighton, Massachusetts, Alice was the daughter of Joseph and Mabelle Rivers MacCormack. She was educated locally and graduated from Brighton High School.
November 8, 1969, she married William Collyer in Brighton, Massachusetts. The couple made their home in Winthrop for more than 35 years, until moving to Dracut, Massachusetts. They retired to Maine in 2007.
For over 30 years, Alice was employed as a Management & Program Analysist for the Internal Revenue Service in Andover, Massachusetts. Before she retired she served on the committee to help make the IRS more user friendly.
Alice loved her family home in Cushing. She had a special place in her heart for all animals, especially those she watched in her back yard. Her family was her number one priority and she was the glue that held them together. She was always concerned that everyone got along, her brother said she was the ‘family baby sitter’.
She was extremely generous and loved to go shopping, especially for gifts for her family. Her daughter said she had a wicked sense of humor and all who loved her will sadly miss her.
