The Strand celebrates teachers in July
ROCKLAND — The Strand Theatre will celebrate Maine teachers, school administrators, and support staff throughout the month of July by offering them free admission to films showing in the theater.
“When I consider the members of our community who stepped up, in a truly remarkable way, to address the extraordinary challenges posed by the pandemic, local teachers and school administrators are at the top of the list!” said Strand Executive Director Jessie Davis, in a news release. “Their resourcefulness, flexibility, and dedication to their work, in the face of such uncertainty, is a beautiful testament to their love of community!”
The Strand’s Education program, which brings top-quality live arts experiences from around the globe to local students and families, was presented virtually this year. Strand Education Manager Brittany Parker worked closely with teachers to coordinate the virtual programming.
“Each year it is such a joy to work collaboratively with local educators and administrators to bring arts education programs into the classroom,” said Parker. “This year these teachers went above and beyond to ensure that their students were able to participate in these enrichment activities, even over Zoom! We’re so grateful to them for continually improving the lives of young people here in the Midcoast.”
Any teacher, school administrator, or support staff member who works in Maine can let the Strand Theatre box office know which district they work for, and will be granted free admission.
The box office opens 30 minutes prior to each showtime.
Health and safety protocols are in place at the theater; please see the Strand website for more information.
