Nearly two dozen COVID-19 cases linked to Morrill church
MORRILL — Nearly two dozen cases of COVID-19 have been linked to a church on Route 3 in Morrill.
Dr. Nirav Shah, the Director of the Maine CDC, said Thursday during his twice-weekly press conference, that his agency is aware of 23 individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19 with an association to the Crossroads to Calvary Apostolic Church.
Dr. Shah noted his team is working with the church to ensure church administrators have everything needed for testing, PPE and infection control in order to minimize future cases.
The church shared a post to its Facebook page Jan. 23 noting in-person services will be suspended “for a period of time” due to “a number” of people testing positive for COVID-19.
“In a diligent effort to mitigate any potential, or further spread of the virus, and after extensive conversation with both local authorities and CDC officials our recommendation is that if you have been in service within the last 2 weeks (from January 10th), that you be tested, begin a quarantine period if you have not already, and certainly monitor yourself diligently for signs and symptoms, which vary from none at all to very severe flu-like symptoms,” the post read.
