Rockport Public Library enters ‘The Last Mile Challenge’
ROCKPORT — The Rockport Library Foundation (RLF) has announced “The Last Mile Challenge,” a 2:1 donation match toward reaching its fundraising goal of $225,000 for furniture and fixtures in the new library.
“This truly is ‘The Last Mile,’” said capital campaign Co-Chair Joan Welsh in her announcement. “We’re within striking distance of our goal, with only $50,000 left to raise. And thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor, we now can match every dollar raised as we enter the home stretch. So donors can double the value of their donation!”
With construction on schedule, the race is on to open the doors with all furnishings and fixtures in place.
Welsh adds, “We need to make sure there are enough stacks, desks, tables, and chairs inside the building to support all the exciting new services that will be offered.”
According to the RLF news release, the new library is proceeding on budget, with the windows installed and brickwork completed. Finish work and stocking the shelves continues at a brisk pace inside while outside decking and roadwork is expected to be completed in the next few weeks.
