Islesboro Central School hires new health, physical education teacher
ISLESBORO — TJ Reap has joined Islesboro Central School as the K-12 Health/Physical Education teacher.
Born and raised in the Allegheny Mountains of Pennsylvania, Reap is the son of a math teacher/coach and a show choir director. Education is in his DNA, according to ICS, in a news release. Reap has taught children of all ages and socioeconomic backgrounds for 21 years. Five of those years were spent teaching in the public school sector and 16 years of working in the private boarding school arena.
Reap has experience teaching PE/Wellness, Economics and Special Education. He has also run Chess Clubs and chess camps for 18 years.
He spent 29 years coaching multiple sports (mostly football, wrestling and golf) at all levels. For four of these years, he was involved in American Football in Norway, Austria, and Italy.
Highly passionate about helping students reach their PE and athletic goals, Reap focuses on finding creative ways to make exercise fun.
Other passions include listening to music, singing and playing guitar, as well as hiking, cross country skiing, cribbage, trout fishing and global travel.
“Reap is thrilled to make Islesboro his permanent home and feels quite privileged to be a member of the community,” said the School.
He is a 1990 graduate of University of New Hampshire with a BS in Business Administration, and a 1996 graduate of Springfield College with a M.Ed in Health Studies.
