‘Moms Tell All!’ generates hundreds for local nonprofit

CAMDEN — The “Moms Tell All!” storytelling event, May 3, at the Camden Opera House boasted the free Blue Café’s biggest house yet and resulted in a $600 donation to Youth Arts, the nonprofit that brings art residencies, workshops, and performances to the students of Camden, Rockport and the Five Town CSD (Hope, Lincolnville and Appleton).
“Moms Tell All!” was the brainchild of Beth O’Connor, owner of Abigail’s Inn and recently appointed chairman of the Camden Opera House Committee. Noting how she and her friends kept each other laughing with their tales of motherhood, she gathered a group of women who provoked both laughter and tears during the evening’s performance.
Admission to Blue Café events, held in an intimate space on the opera house’s third floor, is free, with donations accepted.
Camden Opera House Manager Dave Morrison decided to donate the series’ usual fee for performers to Youth Arts; along with audience donations, the total came to $600.
Given the enthusiastic response of both “Moms” and attendees, another such offering is being considered.
The next Blue Café is Friday, July 12, featuring an encore of pianist, singer and scholar Scott Cleveland’s The Blues Spectrum.
