THOMASTON — We have been hard at work prepping for our winter concert, which was FANTASTIC!

Kindergarten did lots of work with Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Snow is Falling Today, and Frosty the Snowman. We learned some fun new words while practicing as well.

First grade practiced integrating reading and music by performing a song play based off of the story The Mitten by Jan Brett.

Second grade used their knowledge of the Nutcracker Ballet and learning musical forms to perform a plate routine to one of the songs from The Nutcracker.

In third grade we started prepping singing partner songs by learning the two different parts to Shake the Papaya Down/Mamma Don’t Wake Me. We also learned a bit of history about Russia from the time period where the movie Anastasia was based when we learned Once Upon A December.

Fourth grade has been hard at work learning their recorders and working towards their black belt for Recorder Karate. We are currently working on our green belts!

Finally, fifth grade has been working on singing songs with harmonies and we put that practice to the test with our First Footprints song. We even tested out how well they could sing in front of an audience by having WONDERFUL soloists during Let it Snow. Also, our dancers had some help from Miss Johnston learning their tap routine to Hot Chocolate.
