WATCH: Islesboro Central School graduation
ISLESBORO — The Islesboro Central School is holding its Class of 2020 graduation Sunday, June 7.
The ceremony is being held with adherence to COVID-19 guidelines in place. Parents will be called up to the front of the school, along with their seniors, to present diplomas.
“Handshakes and hugs abound,” said Head of School Chuck Hamm. “It's similar to what we see in much of the state right now. We only have nine students, so we can take our time.”
With only nine seniors graduating, less than 50 people were slated to be in attendance, allowing each senior to have three guests.
Masks will be worn at all times (except for a quick photo with family units cohabiting) and all CDC and Department of Education guidelines will be adhered to, including ample room for social distancing.
Following the ceremony, a parade with decorated cars will occur around the island.
The Islesboro Central School Class of 2020 includes Jasper Loudon, Rylee Sienkiewicz, Patrick Kehoe, Abi Martin, Olivia Kelly, Mariah Richards, CJ Abbott, Finnian O'Malia and Ava Schlottman.
