Third Spring Hiring Fair in Rockland seeks employers
ROCKLAND — While an improving economy and low unemployment figures dominate the news, all types of companies and organizations in the Midcoast region and around the state face a growing demand for workers, according to Rockland Main Street, Inc., in news release.
To help alleviate the problem, the Economic Vitality Committee of Rockland Main Street, Inc. will host its third Annual Spring Hiring Fair, Wednesday, April 17, from 3:30 to 6 p.m., at South School, 30 Broadway in Rockland.
For the past two years organizers have seen an increase in the number of businesses participating, as well as in the volume of available jobs. This year they expect that 60 or more companies will be on hand with up to 700 or more open positions.
Job seekers who attend the event will be able to complete applications on site, discuss their resume with prospective employers, and receive on-the-spot interviews.
With strong support from the Maine Department of Labor’s Career Center and the City of Rockland, Rockland Main Street, Inc. encourages any organization with current or anticipated job openings to register early to take advantage of early-bird pricing. Space is limited.
This year’s event is being presented by Horch Roofing, and is sponsored by Allen Insurance and Financial Services, DST Systems, Sequel Care of Maine, the Penobscot Bay Regional Chamber of Commerce, Wallace Events, and Philbrook and Associates.
Early-bird pricing for employer tables is $49 before March 1, and $59 after March 1.
There is no cost for job seekers to attend. The hiring fair will include jobs for entry-level, full-time, part-time, hourly, technical, professional and salaried positions. Anyone seeking work, including veterans, retirees, young people, and students are encouraged to attend this event.
Rockland Main Street, Inc. is a focused partnership of residents, businesses and local government that enhances and protects the unique sense of place and economic vitality of Downtown Rockland, Maine.
