Sweet Tea Arts offers ‘Developing an Eye for Color’ workshops
HOPE — Sweet Tree Arts, 4 Church St., will host a workshop led by Jessica Ives for students in eighth grade through adults. Developing an Eye for Color will be held Sunday, June 28, from 1 to 3 p.m. The workshop is a teaser for a four-day class on the same topic Aug. 17 to 20, meeting from 4 to 6 p.m. each day.
For the teaser, students will develop a series of quick and fun color sketches as answers to questions covering the core concepts behind color relatedness. All materials are provided, except for an 8-by-10-inch (or larger) sketchbook of the participant's choice. The cost is $20, which will be applied toward the $150 fee for the longer class for those who register on or before the day of the workshop. Scholarships and family/sibling discounts are available.
Ives studied color theory at the Cooper Union School of Art and earned a master's degree at New York University. She teaches color theory, and her work can be seen at Gleason Fine Art in Boothbay, Courthouse Gallery Fine Art in Ellsworth, the Lupin Gallery on Monhegan and online at jessicalessives.com.
