Submissions sought for ‘RECYCLED: From the Waste Bin to the Wall’
APPLETON- RECYCLED from the waste bin to the wall, from pollution to creation. Do you have a studio full of junk you cannot throw away because it speaks to you, and you are sure you will make art with it some day? That day has arrived.
The Appleton Library is putting together an art exhibit entitles: “RECYCLED from the waste bin to the wall.” Art can be a way of making beauty out of waste, and the moral theme of this exhibit only enhances its impact. The library is looking for art that incorporates things that would otherwise be thrown away: found objects, packaging, re-purposed things, all given an imaginative new life as works of art.
It can be a work of sculpture, bas relief, or two-dimensional, collage, mobiles, and/or fiber art. All work must be exhibit ready, be free-standing or hang on the wall and fit through the library door.
Please email to appletonlibraryjulie@gmail.com clear images, from different angles, of your work of art, include dimensions and materials used, a brief description of your process or intention, and your address. Each artist may submit up to three works, subject to space limitations. Submission preference given to Appleton residents and artists residing in surrounding areas.
We will accept submissions until 5 p.m. on Friday, April 26. Submissions will be reviewed by May 3, and the submission installment will be on May 10 and 11.
